The client of this interior design project wanted an office space nearby the international airport Hongqiao in Shanghai to make her company OTE fabrics easily accessible for domestic and international tradesman so that they could acquaint themselves with the curtain and furniture textile products of her company.
The major design challenge for Superimpose that came along with this vision was to create an office interior that was not only meant for working but also serves as a showroom, event space, workshop-space and a place where people might want to work on their way to their next destination.
Superimpose designed a smart plan layout working hand in hand with an innovative system of cabinets serving as separator between space, storage space, kitchen, and product display of the curtains and other fabrics. In fact, the entire space was becoming an experience center.
The cabinets are tactically placed to divide the 1000 square meter interior into smaller offices, a reception, meeting rooms, event space storage and a workshop space. The reception provides access to two companies at once with two separate reception desks. Walking through the entrance door of the client’s office immediately provides the visitor with a product introduction of the company.
The interior boosts light materials and colors to reflect the daylight into the deep floor plate, but also to provide a calm backdrop to the displayed fabrics. The cabinets are detailed in such a way that it looks like they are placed in later and can be removed again. The use of large amounts of glass provides openness and sense of modernity to the space. Behind the glass, the client’s curtains are used to improve acoustics and privacy when needed. The light fixtures and numbering on the cabinets add refer to the client’s warehouses.
